It
was in 1966, during a Sabbatical year, that the door of radio opened before
the author to declare Almighty Yahweh's Name and the coming Kingdom of Yahweh
and salvation in the Name of Yahshua the Messiah. The radio outreach expanded
rapidly over the years so that this truth could be preached in various places
of the world.
On
February 5, 1966, The Sacred Name Broadcast was first heard over Radio Station
WBMD, Baltimore, Maryland. From there we obtained time on such powerful
stations as KXEL, Waterloo, Iowa; XELO, Mexico; XERF, Mexico, and other major
stations whose names you have seen listed in our Radio Log over the years.
The
vision of taking this dynamic message of salvation to the ends of the earth
has always been in the forefront of our minds. From the moment this
magnificent truth was revealed to us, we wanted all people on the earth to
bear this glorious message. Consequently, we began to supplement the radio
broadcast with literature, and our published literature was sent all over the
United States and to many foreign countries. (At the present time over 125
foreign countries are represented on our mailing list to receive our monthly
magazine.)
This
message of salvation, through keeping ourselves free from sin by obeying
Yahweh's covenant law, and trusting in the revealed personal Name of our
Heavenly Father Yahweh, and in the true revealed Name of His Son, Yahshua the
Messiah, is unique among the teachings of various religious organizations of
the world. But, the end purpose is not merely to promulgate these facts that
have been preached so powerfully over the Sacred Name radio broadcast and
published in The Sacred Name Broadcaster magazine and our other
published literature. Our primary objective is to get people to comprehend
that faithful obedience to the things, which are taught by the sacred
Scriptures, is necessary for salvation.
The
Assemblies of Yahweh message is one of strictness through obedience. The world
today wishes to liberalize religious doctrines, and therefore, many
unscriptural notions are introduced to supplant plain statements in the Bible.
In this manner religious bodies legitimize sin! But, the Assemblies of Yahweh
confronts the Bible straightforwardly and allows the sacred Scriptures to
speak with supreme authority. We humbly submit ourselves to this voice
speaking to us directly from Heaven from the pages of the sacred book.
Over
the years the author recognized that in order to fulfill the Great Commission
of Matthew 28:19‑20 a new approach would have to be taken. How would
this message be proclaimed to the ends of the earth? The borders of some
nations are closed to restrict information in certain forms. The Assemblies of
Yahweh organization is small and not at all wealthy when compared to the
worldly religious organizations.
While
contemplating the progress of the Assemblies of Yahweh ministry relating to
how we can fulfill our calling to send forth this message to the ends of the
earth, we recognized that purchasing time on commercial radio stations would
not cover all the areas necessary. Additionally, time on commercial radio
stations has become very expensive over the years. It seems like the
months roll by very rapidly, and sometimes income is low. Bills pile up as we
seek with all our power to fulfill the mission to which Almighty Yahweh has
called us. Actually, we should be sending forth The Sacred Name
Broadcast right now over at least a dozen more powerful stations here in the
United States alone, but the cost is prohibitive.
After
much personal thought, and discussion with various brethren, we finally came
to the conclusion that having our own radio station would be a tremendous
asset to the ministry. With careful research we learned that Bethel is located
at a very strategic position on the earth for sending out radio signals. We
learned that from Bethel we could cover much of the land area of the earth
because the Great Circle Line on which we are located is the one that runs
through the heart of most of the land. Therefore, we could conceivably cover
the land area of the world by a short-wave radio signal, which travels around
the globe in a circle.
We
began seriously considering the construction of a short-wave radio station
here at Bethel. The needs for such a station was laid before the brethren and
co‑workers of the Assemblies of Yahweh in a special communication: The
brethren responded immediately! We learned that there was genuine
interest in completing such a project!
The
author began to search for a radio transmitter that would be powerful enough
to satisfy the requirements of the Federal Communications Commission. A
transmitter was located in the south, and we soon made arrangements to
transport this transmitter here to Bethel. Significantly, as the truck was
sent to pick up the transmitter, we as yet did not have a place to situate
it!
But,
Almighty Yahweh moved miraculously and provided a building. Although
this property was in a state of great disrepair, it came situated on about 3
3/4 acres of land. This property was located, about two miles from the
Assemblies of Yahweh International Headquarters here at Bethel, Pennsylvania.
By the time the truck arrived here at Bethel carrying the transmitter, we had
already completed the purchase and transfer of title and we were prepared to
unload the transmitter.
The
first step in the construction process was to inventory the components, which
we had received with the transmitter we had purchased. Additionally, we had to
replace the roof on the building and renovate the inside of the entire
building so that it would be suitable to function as a transmitter building.
All this preparatory work took some time to complete.
The
next step was to begin reconditioning each component of the transmitter. The
moving parts were disassembled and cleaned. Parts that needed to be replaced,
such as bearings for blowers and other items, were purchased.
In
the meantime, we had to submit an application to the Federal Communications
Commission for a construction permit for the station. We had to submit
blueprints for the transmitter. These blueprints had to be drawn and the
necessary modification of the transmitter had to be planned. A great deal of
thought and study was put into this phase.
But,
almost like in the days when Israel was building the tabernacle in the
wilderness, Almighty Yahweh laid it upon the hearts of the brethren and co‑workers
of the Assemblies of Yahweh to give generously. A lot of funds were necessary
because building a radio station is not a cheap project. We learned
that literally hundreds of thousands of dollars are involved.
To
complete construction of Israel's wilderness tabernacle, Almighty Yahweh
called several people (Bezalel and Oholiab) who had artistic expertise. Yahweh
also called dedicated men into our area to construct the radio station. Gary
McAvin and his family moved to Bethel to assist in this mighty project for the
glory of Yahweh. The McAvins had become members of the Assemblies of Yahweh in
1975 and in 1978 they moved to Bethel. Later they moved back to their home in
Albuquerque, New Mexico, but they returned to Bethel in April 1980 to assist
me in the ministry. Gary is a journeyman electrician, and his broad experience
helped to get the project under way.
In
addition, Tadd Bueb and his wife had moved to Bethel from California. He had
come to attend Obadiah School of the Bible, but he was knowledgeable in radio
communications and his expertise proved quite valuable in completing this
project. Several others also assisted in this project.
As
work on the transmitter went forward, we had to consider the design of the
antenna we were going to use. After a great deal of thought, study, and
discussion, we came upon the design of a modified log periodic antenna, since
we have limited acreage to situate the antenna. The initial drawings of the
antenna looked something like a shophar (a ram's horn). As the construction on
the antenna went forward, we soon realized that it took on the appearance of a
ram's horn uplifted to the sky. What a thrill we all experienced as we saw
the shape of this antenna! Surely now the voice of Yahweh could go out
with power like the blast of a trumpet.
In
addition, the steel posts that were used for the antenna construction
fulfilled a prophecy found in Jeremiah 31:21. "Set yourself up
waymarks, make yourself guideposts [sign‑posts]; set your heart toward
the highway, even the way by which you went: turn again, O virgin of Israel,
turn again to these your cities." These steel antenna posts had once
been used for signposts along the interstate highway. Now they were recycled
and employed to hold the antenna grid suspended in the air. Those people who
are alert to the fulfillment of end‑time Bible prophecy can see how
Almighty Yahweh miraculously moved to confirm His Word as a sign to those who
are sincere.
As
the short wave radio station construction continued, the project seemed to
take quite a long time. Some of the designs had to be modified and changes had
to be made after initial testing. Through test broadcasting, (which began in
1985) we found that further modifications had to be made to some of the
components. (During this time of testing we were allowed to broadcast by the
FCC under our CP, and we maintained a regular broadcast schedule.) But, finally the station was again tested by the FCC
Engineers on August 29, 1986, and approved. On September 5,1986, WMLK Radio
was granted its broadcast license to transmit programming regularly each day.
Our schedule called for broadcasting six days each week, 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. EST
and 12 noon to 3 p.m. EST.
It
is our opinion that Radio Station WMLK is fulfilling end‑time prophecy.
First of all the call letters WMLK are significant because Almighty Yahweh
pushed us in the direction of requesting them. We had other ideas for call
letters. We discovered that all these call letters we had chosen were already
in use, until we asked about selecting the letters MLK. These were available
and assigned to the station. "MLK" stands for the consonants of the
Hebrew word mal'ak which means "messenger or angel." The letters can
also under a different set of vowel points mean king (melek). A vocalization
of the word will also yield the definition "salt."
Consequently,
we rejoice, as we understand that Almighty Yahweh had us select the call
letters, which represent the voice of the angel or messenger of Almighty
Yahweh heralding the good news of the coming kingdom to the ends of the earth.
We are heralding the message that the Messianic King is coming to establish
the Kingdom of Yahweh on this earth. It is our prayer that the words which are
spoken will call out of the nations of the world such people as have prepared
their hearts to be saved, people who will become members of the Body of the
Messiah, the salt of the earth.
It
is our hope that we can fulfill the prophecy of Revelation 14:6‑12. "And
I saw another angel flying in mid heaven, having eternal good tidings to
proclaim to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and
tongue and people, and he says with a great voice, Fear Yahweh, and give him
glory, for the hour of his judgment has come: and worship him that made the
heaven and the earth and sea and fountains of waters.
"And
another, a second angel, followed, saying, Fallen, fallen is Babylon the
great, that has made all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her
fornication.
"And
another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a great voice, If any man
worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead, or on
his hand, he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of Yahweh, which is
prepared unmixed in the cup of his anger, and he shall be tormented with fire
and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the
Lamb: and the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have
no rest day and night, they that worship the beast and his image, and whoever
receives the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints; They that
keep the commandments of Yahweh, and the faith of Yahshua."
Since
1966, the message of the Assemblies of Yahweh heard on The Sacred Name
Broadcast has been to inform all who will listen, that the Name of the Creator
Father in heaven is Yahweh and His Son's Name is Yahshua.
Since
the early days of this ministry we have been proclaiming the end of this
worldly system of things, which the Bible designates as Babylon. Please note
that the verbs are in the past tense in this passage although the event has
not as yet come to pass. See for comparison Revelation 21:5‑6. This
grammatical construction is known as the prophetic perfect.
Since
the early days of this ministry the author has been preaching the warning
against accepting the Mark of the Beast. He has contrasted the Mark of Yahweh
against the Mark of the Beast (government).
Consequently,
the messages have been flying through the air since early 1966. Now they are
going to the entire world over the short-wave radio signal, flying through the
air, proclaiming Yahweh's Word to all who will listen.
How
do we arrive at this interpretation? Please note that seven angels guide the
seven assemblies in Revelation chapter 2 and 3. These angels of the assembly
are similar to the tzibor of the Jewish synagogue—meaning the overseer of
the congregation. Consequently, the angel of Revelation 14 should be the
overseer of the end‑time Assemblies of Yahweh.
However,
let us not concentrate our focus on the messenger, but on the message
proclaimed. The first message is to announce to the world that Yahweh and His
Son Yahshua are the true Heavenly Elohim family. The second message is that
this Babylonish System of the world will surely fall and be supplanted by the
Kingdom of Yahshua the Messiah when He returns. Finally the third message, a
powerful message, follows, which declares that all those who cling to this
worldly system by taking its mark will be excluded from Messiah's Kingdom and
the resurrection of the just.
Please
note also that the preaching of this end‑time warning message follows
the manifestation of the 144,000. Contextual relationships would lead us to
the conclusion that from this group will come the end‑time warning.
Also, compare Malachi 4:4‑6.
Today
there is the voice of a messenger from Almighty Yahweh flying through the air.
That radio signal is going forth powerfully and penetrating into a growing
number of countries of the world. The voice of warning is heard in many
different places where literature and other mediums of outreach cannot go.
But, now Yahweh receives the glory all over the earth! Are you preparing
yourself for the culmination of the age?
One
of the most exciting factors about the short-wave radio signal is that Almighty
Yahweh can push the signal anywhere He pleases! As one professor of
communications told us, "Aim the antenna in the direction in which you
want to broadcast and then the various heavenly phenomena will push the signal
into different places. No one can control where the signal goes!" Truly
the hand of Almighty Yahweh is at work with this radio signal. He will direct
the signal and His mighty power will also make the voice easy to be
understood, as in Apostolic days.
Have
you heard Radio Station WMLK? If you haven't, why not try to pick up the
signal in your area? The Assemblies of Yahweh short-wave radio station does
not broadcast to the United States. But, since the station is situated within
the United States, many people of the United States can hear it. The author
and his family made a trip to New England last summer. With his portable
short-wave receiver, he heard the broadcast, loud and clear, in Bangor, Maine,
and several other places along the way. People in Canada are hearing the
broadcast, although Canada is not one of our primary target areas. We have
heard the broadcast in several areas of the Caribbean. Our target areas,
however, are Europe and the Middle East, but many other regions of the earth
hear the WMLK transmission. We receive a lot of response from Australia, New
Zealand, and other places.
If
you are interested in this short-wave radio outreach of the Assemblies of
Yahweh, why not write in for a short-wave listener's guide? These booklets are
free of charge for the asking.
In
addition, we would be happy to answer any questions from the readers.
Again
we invite you to take a special, personal interest in the Assemblies of Yahweh
outreach. Each day various programs are heard. We transmit The Sacred Name
Broadcast daily. A Sabbath sermon is aired. We broadcast "The Open Door
to the Living Word" which is a Bible Study. Another regular feature is
entitled "World News and Commentary, With a Focus on Bible
Prophecy." In addition, you will hear various renditions of music. After
each broadcast segment we believe you will be greatly inspired.
Almighty Yahweh has directed the Assemblies of Yahweh outreach and we have received many blessings for which to thank Him. But, we would like to have more people listen to the radio station and to be encouraged by the sound doctrines which are preached over the air each day. Will you join us by listening to your radio regularly?
